Mabrok Lab

Applied mathematics, control theory and machine learning — and teaching built around how students actually learn.

Mabrok Lab

The lab of Dr. Mohamed A. Mabrok, Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Qatar University.

Work here runs along two lines that meet more often than they look like they should. One is mathematical: robust and optimal control, negative imaginary systems theory, dynamical systems, quantum control. The other is applied machine learning: deep models for healthcare, perception for robotics, and mathematics education.

Teaching

Courses are taught on a platform built for the purpose: worked examples that open a step at a time, practice that explains rather than ticks, a tutor that has read the same pages the student has, and an exam bank where every answer has been checked by a computer algebra system before a student ever sees it.

Working with the lab

Students interested in control theory, applied machine learning or quantum systems are welcome to get in touch — by email, with a CV and a short note about what you want to work on.
